PESHAWAR, June 6, 2025 — The Provincial Task Force on Higher Education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa advises the government to quickly carry out its proposed changes meant to increase quality assurance, better governance and secure the financial future of public universities.
At the Khyber Medical University meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq, the task force looked at its report which brings together comments and recommendations from academics, university staff and other stakeholders. The report mentions some key issues like the government’s financial problems, blockades within the administration, lessening academic performance and the demand for more autonomy.
Attendees included the Higher Education Secretary, the vice chancellors of main public universities and top officials from the government. The report stressed the need for reforms to go in line with what Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has instructed.
Enhancing cooperation between industry and academic institutions, revitalizing research and quality assurance and improving programs for faculty growth are part of the report’s recommendations.
