ABBOTTABAD: A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded at the picturesque Sohni Waterfall in Naran, located in the Hazara Division, where a glacier collapse claimed the lives of three tourists from Lahore on Friday.
According to police sources, the victims a father, his son, and their cousin were reportedly taking photos near the glacier when a massive chunk of ice suddenly detached and fell, burying them underneath.
Despite swift action by local residents and rescue teams, the victims could not be saved. Their bodies were retrieved and shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Naran.
All three victims were residents of Harbanspura, Lahore, and belonged to the same family. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the tourist community and raised concerns about safety in glacier prone areas.
Authorities have urged visitors to exercise caution and maintain a safe distance from unstable natural formations while exploring northern regions.
