The ongoing investigation of TikTok star Sana Yousaf’s murder case, the accused Umar Hayat has been sent to judicial remand after completing his 3-day physical remand. The case was heard in the court of Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Hafeez in Islamabad.
The prosecution did not request an extension of the physical remand, and the accused was presented in court after the completion of his three-day remand. During the hearing, the defense counsel for Umar Hayat argued that due to media hype surrounding the case, the accused was being denied visits from his parents, which they claimed was both a legal and human right. The court responded by advising them to contact jail authorities for the visit, as the accused was now being sent to jail.
It is noteworthy that the District and Sessions Court in Islamabad had earlier granted a 3-day physical remand for Umar Hayat, who was arrested in connection with Sana Yousaf’s murder. Following the completion of his 4-day remand, the accused was presented in front of Judicial Magistrate Hafeez Ahmad, where the prosecution sought an extension for further physical remand. The prosecution argued that the car used by the accused had been recovered, and they aimed to recover his mobile phone. However, the accused had been reluctant to cooperate due to his awareness of the seriousness of the crime.
Previously, the Islamabad District and Sessions Court had also approved Umar Hayat’s four-day physical remand in the same case. The investigation continues as the police aim to gather more evidence related to the tragic murder of Sana Yousaf.
