Karachi: Police have arrested a husband and wife accused of killing a woman in Orangi Town after a dispute over unpaid rent.

According to investigation officials, the body of the victim was recovered from bushes near Hawa Goth in Orangi Town. The deceased was identified as Asma, wife of Mansoor. She was residing with her husband in a rented house located in Orangi Sector 11½.

Investigators stated that the house had two portions, with another family residing in the second portion. The property owner had assigned Asma the responsibility of collecting rent. The accused couple had allegedly failed to pay rent for the past three to four months.

On December 4, Asma went to the tenants to demand the overdue rent. During the confrontation, the accused allegedly pushed her, causing her to fall and lose her life on the spot. The suspects then placed the body in a sack, transported it on a motorcycle, and dumped it near Hawa Goth before fleeing the area.

Officials further said that a missing person report for Asma had already been registered. During the course of investigation, the accused couple was traced and arrested. At the time of the incident, the victim’s husband was away at work.

Police identified the suspects as Kishwar and her husband Adnan. The body was shifted to the hospital for legal formalities, while further investigation is underway.
