Washington : Former U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff has revealed that following Israel’s attack on Qatar, former President Donald Trump felt that Israel was beginning to act “beyond control.”
In an interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes, Witkoff disclosed that he had no prior knowledge of Israel’s plan to strike Hamas targets in Qatar. “When the news broke the next morning, President Trump called me immediately,” Witkoff said. “Both Jared Kushner and I felt deceived — we had no idea such an operation was underway.”
He added that the attack deeply damaged trust with Qatar, pushing Hamas further underground and making communication channels almost impossible.
According to foreign media, the incident has strained U.S. diplomatic efforts in the region, highlighting growing concerns within Trump’s circle about Israel’s unilateral actions during that period.
