KARACHI: Two suspects were injured and five others arrested after a reported exchange of fire between police and an armed robbery gang near Noorani Hotel in Karachi’s Manghopir area.
According to SSP West Tariq Elahi Mastooi, the suspects were attempting to rob a trader named Fahad when the police intercepted them, leading to a shootout.
During the exchange of fire, two suspects identified as Muhammad Arif and Shahrukh sustained injuries, while another accomplice, Haroon Rashid, was also taken into custody. Police confirmed that two other suspects managed to flee the scene.
Authorities said two pistols, a snatched mobile phone belonging to the trader, a motorcycle, cash, and other valuables were recovered from the suspects.
The injured suspects were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the remaining detainees were taken to the police station for interrogation.
SSP Mastooi added that further investigations are underway, and raids are being conducted to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
