In a global first, Britain’s Learning Resource Network (LRN) has officially introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a recognized subject at the international GCSE and A-levels. The move establishes LRN as the world’s pioneer in offering a formal AI qualification for students aged 14 to 19.
Students across the globe, through LRN-accredited institutions, will now be able to study AI alongside traditional subjects like Mathematics and Physics. The new curriculum covers foundational AI concepts, hands-on practical skills, and ethical considerations surrounding AI deployment.
“This is Britain taking the lead in AI education,” said Dr. Muhammad Zohaib Tariq, CEO of LRN. He described the new qualification as a “blueprint for future-ready learning,” emphasizing its international relevance and long-term impact.
As AI continues to disrupt sectors from healthcare to finance, education experts say introducing it at the school level marks a significant shift in preparing students for a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The qualification rollout is part of a broader effort to align academic learning with technological advancement, ensuring young learners are equipped for the jobs and challenges of Tomorrow.
