PMDC Raises Medical, Dental College Fee Cap to Rs1.89 Million

Islamabad, Oct 12, 2025: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has increased the maximum annual tuition fee for medical and dental colleges to Rs. 1.89 million for the 2025–26 academic session — a 5% rise from last year’s Rs. 1.8 million cap.

According to the notification issued under the PMDC Act 2022, the new fee ceiling will take effect immediately, with future adjustments tied to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 2026–27 onward.

The revision follows recommendations by the Medical Education Committee, constituted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review tuition concerns raised by parents and lawmakers.

PMDC has directed all private medical and dental colleges to display their approved fee structures at least three months before admissions begin, in compliance with Section 20(7) of the Act.

The council warned that institutions charging beyond the approved limit would face disciplinary action, including suspension of accreditation or admissions, under Section 33 of the PMDC Act.

The fee issue gained attention last year when parents and Senator Irfan Siddiqui voiced objections to steep increases, prompting a government-led review that first capped the annual fee at Rs. 1.8 million for 2024–25.
