LAHORE: Police on Tuesday arrested a van driver accused of harassing an 11-year-old girl in the Liaqatabad area. According to officials, the incident occurred while the child was returning home from school in a private van.
DIG Operations had assigned a special task to ASP Model Town, Kashmala Farooq, who led the operation to trace and apprehend the suspect. SHO Liaqatabad, along with the police team, located the accused in the Liaqatabad Bazaar and took him into custody.
ASP Kashmala Farooq stated that the suspect, identified as Hanif, allegedly attempted to harass the child inside the van. The girl raised an alarm, prompting the driver to flee the scene. Police later registered a case against the accused and handed him over to the gender crime cell.
SP Model Town, Shehrbano Naqvi, commended the prompt action of the SHO and the investigation team, reiterating that harassment of children is treated under a strict zero-tolerance policy.
