Which is Better for Good Health: Raw Milk or Boiled Milk?

This is a common question that many people have. Below are some important points regarding this:

Raw Milk

Benefits

  • Raw milk is rich in vitamins, enzymes, and probiotics (healthy bacteria).

  • Boiling raw milk can destroy some vitamins (especially vitamin C and B-complex) and enzymes.

  • Some people claim that raw milk helps with digestion and may be somewhat easier to tolerate for those with lactose intolerance; however, this is not true for everyone.

Risks

  • Raw milk may contain harmful bacteria (such as E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Brucella), which can cause food poisoning, diarrhea, kidney infections, and even miscarriage in pregnant women.

  • The risks are especially high for children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with weak immune systems.

Boiled or Pasteurized Milk

Benefits

  • Boiling or pasteurizing milk kills harmful germs, making it much safer.

  • The calcium, proteins, and fats in milk remain mostly unaffected.

  • Commercially pasteurized milk is considered the safest worldwide.

Limitations

  • Boiling milk for too long or at very high temperatures can reduce the levels of vitamin C and B-group vitamins.

  • It may also slightly change the taste of milk.

Conclusion

For safe health, boiled or pasteurized milk is better—especially for children and people with sensitive health conditions. Raw milk can only be safe if it is extremely fresh, obtained from a healthy animal, and handled under completely hygienic conditions.
