A young woman was allegedly gang-raped in Sahiwal district of Punjab by her social media acquaintance and his accomplice after being lured with a promise of employment.
According to police sources, the victim, a resident of Bhairwana village in Tandlianwala, developed an online friendship with a well-known social media influencer from Sahiwal. Over time, the interaction reportedly turned into a personal relationship. The suspect allegedly claimed to have political connections and assured the woman he could help her secure a job.
On Thursday evening, the accused called the woman to Sahiwal for a meeting. Upon her arrival, he reportedly took her in a car to a house, where she was allegedly given an intoxicating drink. Police say the suspect and his accomplice then subjected her to sexual assault.
The following morning, the woman was reportedly dropped off at the general bus stand and threatened with serious consequences if she disclosed the incident.
The victim later approached the police and filed a complaint. On her statement, the Galla Mandi Police registered a case against the accused, who is currently absconding. Efforts are underway to arrest him.
