The Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute has achieved another historic and global milestone in the field of medicine, successfully completing liver transplants for 10 patients within a period of 24 hours.
For the first time in Pakistan, the world’s largest 10 way living donor liver transplant swap chain was successfully completed, under which 20 major surgeries involving 10 donors and 10 patients were performed in a single day.
According to the institute, incompatibility between donors and patients was transformed into a life saving opportunity through advanced medical strategies. This achievement has established a new global benchmark in the field of liver transplantation.
Through this historic program completed at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute, patients from Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received a new lease on life.
The institute stated that this is the world’s largest living donor liver transplant swap program, which has brought international recognition to Pakistan.
On this occasion, Professor Faisal Dar said that this achievement is a historic honor for both Pakistan and humanity. He congratulated the entire team and the nation and also proposed the establishment of a national level swap liver transplant program.
