At least ten people, including women and children, lost their lives in a tragic stampede during a religious ceremony at a temple in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, earlier today. The incident has left the nation in shock, reigniting debates over crowd safety at large gatherings.

According to reports from Hindustan Times, the tragedy occurred when hundreds of devotees gathered at the temple for the annual ritual. Chaos erupted as people began moving in opposite directions  those trying to exit collided with others still entering the premises. Within minutes, panic spread through the crowd, leading to a deadly crush.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals. Several victims remain in critical condition, officials said. Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the situation spiraled out of control.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of complete panic. “There were too many people, and no proper arrangements to manage the crowd,” said one survivor, still shaken by the ordeal.

Tragic incidents like this have become increasingly common in India, often linked to inadequate crowd control and poor infrastructure around religious and public venues. Experts say stricter enforcement of safety guidelines and better planning are urgently needed to prevent such disasters in the future.
