A serious health concern has emerged in Chiniot, Punjab, where 145 government schools have reportedly been found supplying contaminated drinking water to students.
The situation has raised concerns about the health and safety of thousands of schoolchildren who may be exposed to unsafe drinking water during school hours.
Drinking contaminated water can cause several waterborne diseases, including diarrhoea, cholera, typhoid and other stomach infections.
The findings highlight the need for immediate action by the education and health authorities. Schools must ensure access to clean drinking water, while water filtration systems should be installed, repaired and regularly monitored.
Authorities are expected to take necessary measures to protect students and prevent the spread of waterborne diseases.
