June 30, 2025:

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released the latest figures detailing the destruction caused by relentless rains, flash floods, and landslides across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa since June 25.

According to PDMA, at least 22 people have lost their lives and 11 others have been injured in rain-related incidents across the province. The fatalities include 7 men, 5 women, and 10 children, while the injured comprise 6 men, 4 women, and a child.

Swat district emerged as the hardest-hit area, where 14 people died and six others sustained injuries due to flash floods and landslides triggered by the heavy downpours.

The disaster has also left a trail of destruction in terms of property damage. As per PDMA’s report, 64 houses have suffered partial damage, while 11 houses have been completely destroyed across various parts of the province.

Authorities say rescue and relief operations are underway in the affected areas. In one such operation, rescue teams responded to a family stranded in the Swat River. However, details regarding the time it took for the first rescue vehicle to reach the scene have not been officially disclosed.

The PDMA has urged citizens to exercise caution, especially in vulnerable districts, as more rain and potential landslides are forecast for the coming days.
