Operation targets suspects involved in murder, drug trafficking, street crime, and gutka-mawa trade; residents commend police efforts
Karachi (Staff Reporter): In a large-scale operation, police in Karachi’s Jamshed Quarters have arrested 75 suspects allegedly involved in serious criminal activities, including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, drug trafficking, and the illegal trade of gutka and mawa. The crackdown was carried out on the special directives of DIG East Zone and SSP East District, Dr. Farrukh Raza.
The operation, led by SHO Jamshed Quarters Ansar Butt, set a precedent for rapid response, with murder suspects apprehended within hours of the incidents. The swift action is being hailed as a significant success in the ongoing fight against organized crime in the area.
According to police officials, the crackdown resulted in the arrest of 12 suspects linked to street crime and dacoity. Law enforcement recovered a significant cache of arms, including two 9mm pistols, seven additional handguns, seven magazines, a 12-bore rifle, 150 rounds of ammunition, and a knife — with one of the weapons believed to be the murder weapon in an ongoing investigation.
In a separate operation targeting the illegal gutka and mawa trade, 15 individuals were detained. Police seized 1,264 packets of gutka and mawa, 311 packets of assorted tobacco products, 217 kilograms of betel nut, and three mobile phones.
Efforts to dismantle the narcotics network also yielded substantial results. Police arrested 15 suspects involved in drug trafficking and recovered 3,800 kilograms of hashish, 186 grams of crystal meth (commonly known as ice), four motorcycles allegedly used for deliveries, and three mobile phones.
Additionally, 14 individuals wanted in various cases were apprehended, along with 12 violators of Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Police officials have praised SHO Ansar Butt for his consistent and effective leadership in combating crime since his posting in the Jamshed Quarters precinct. Local residents and community representatives have expressed satisfaction over the sustained law enforcement presence and appreciated the efforts to restore peace and security in the area.
