SADIQABAD – An FIR has been registered in connection with the deadly terrorist assault on a police check post in Sadiqabad, which resulted in the martyrdom of five Elite Force personnel. The case has been filed under charges of terrorism, murder, attempted murder, and other serious offenses under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
According to the FIR, the attack was carried out by heavily armed assailants affiliated with multiple criminal gangs, including the Andhar, Lolai, Bukhrani, Mirani, Mohana, Dashti, and Korai gangs. The attackers surrounded the check post and launched an assault using heavy weaponry, including rocket launchers.
The ringleader of the Andhar gang, Tanzeer Andhar, reportedly fired three rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), which instantly killed police officials Irfan, Saleem, Nakheel, Ghazanfar, and Khaleel. The assailants also destroyed a police mobile unit and caused significant damage to the check post.
Police sources confirmed that 28 known suspects and five unidentified assailants were involved in the ambush. Reinforcements were dispatched immediately, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. During the police counter-operation, notorious dacoit Sona Dashti was killed while another criminal, Malook Lolai, sustained serious injuries. However, the remaining suspects managed to flee, taking the injured with them.
Authorities have identified Tanzeer Andhar, Gul Hassan, and Ahmed Shobi among the prime suspects, all of whom are listed on Punjab’s most-wanted criminals list and carry a bounty of Rs. 10 million each.
The brazen attack has triggered panic and fear across the region, prompting security agencies to initiate a large-scale search operation to apprehend the perpetrators. High-level law enforcement officials are monitoring the situation closely, and checkpoints across the district have been tightened.
