The Punjab government has introduced a new leave policy for medical staff, under which summer vacations will be limited to only three weeks, and no payment will be provided during the leave period.
According to the new policy announced by the Punjab Health Department, summer leave for medical personnel is now considered a facility, not an entitlement. The department has issued an official notification outlining the details of the policy.
As per the notification, 67% of the clinical faculty and 50% of the sciences faculty must remain on duty during this period. Additionally, every medical institution is required to form a Leave Management Committee.
The notification further states that these committees must submit an annual leave roster by April 30 each year.
