DERA GHAZI KHAN, Aug 12: In a tragic incident in Taunsa Sharif, Dera Ghazi Khan, three minor brothers lost their lives under mysterious circumstances. Their father, Khwaja Ghayasullah, lodged a murder complaint, alleging that his sons — aged between one and four years — were poisoned. Sources indicate that a family property dispute might be linked to the case.
According to hospital officials, one-year-old Muhammad Umar passed away at the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Taunsa Sharif. His two brothers — two-year-old Ghulam Muhammad and four-year-old Moinuddin — were shifted to the Children’s Hospital in Multan, where they later succumbed to their condition. All three had initially been brought to the THQ Hospital.
District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Wilayat visited the family residence and obtained details of the incident. On the basis of the father’s statement, police registered a case under Sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code and initiated an investigation. Samples from the children’s bodies have been dispatched to a forensic laboratory for analysis.
A large number of people, along with police and administration officials, attended the children’s funeral prayers at Darbar Alia Sulaymaniyah before their burial.
In a separate incident in Basti Jumna Chandia, near Dera Ghazi Khan, a 13-year-old girl, Rabia, and a man, Shafqat, were gunned down by members of a rival group allegedly over an old feud. According to police, the suspects, Fayyaz Sajjad and Riaz, opened fire on the victims while they were fertilizing their land. Authorities have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
