KARACHI _ August 3: In a major crackdown on cybercrime, the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) conducted a raid on a call centre operating on Shahra-e-Faisal and apprehended three individuals allegedly involved in defrauding foreign nationals.
According to an NCCIA spokesperson, the suspects were using specialized software to contact international citizens and deceive them into sharing sensitive financial information. Once the data was obtained, the suspects reportedly accessed victims’ credit card details and bank accounts to unlawfully withdraw funds.
Authorities have registered a formal case against the arrested individuals, and further investigations are currently underway to determine the full scope of the operation and identify any additional accomplices or victims.
The NCCIA has reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime and urged the public to remain vigilant against online fraud schemes.
