A senior official from the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has gone missing in Karachi, prompting his family to file a formal complaint with local police. The disappearance has sparked immediate concern among staff and authorities, as the official was reportedly intercepted while commuting.

The family claims he was picked up by unidentified men in a private vehicle late Tuesday night. They arrived at the local police station Wednesday morning to register a First Information Report (FIR), citing fears for his safety given his sensitive role within the authority.

Police officials confirmed they have received the complaint and are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity of the incident. Investigators are tracing the route he took from his office to his residence, hoping to find a break in the case.

“We aren’t ruling out any possibilities,” a senior police officer told reporters, confirming that specialized units are now involved in the search. He declined to comment on whether the official’s work at Nadra—which involves handling high-security data—is considered a primary motive.

The disappearance comes at a time when Nadra is under intense scrutiny regarding data security protocols and internal audits. Colleagues describe the missing official as a diligent worker who rarely discussed his professional tasks outside of the office.

His family remains in a state of shock, waiting for any word from investigators. As the search enters its second day, the lack of a clear ransom demand or communication from the alleged captors has left the family fearing the worst.

For now, the police investigation remains focused on gathering digital evidence and tracking the vehicle flagged in the initial report. Any further delay in locating the official will likely intensify pressure on the provincial administration to provide answers.
