Karachi (Staff Reporter) – Director General of Sindh Prisons, Kanwar Shahid Hussain, and Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Saleh Sheikh carried out an important inspection of various prisons across the city, focusing on enhanced security protocols and welfare initiatives for inmates.

During their visit, the top officials reviewed the implementation of ongoing reforms aimed at transforming prison conditions and ensuring the rehabilitation of prisoners. These reforms include the introduction of educational and vocational training programs, improved healthcare services within prison facilities, and the installation of advanced security systems such as biometric identification and CCTV surveillance.

The Director General emphasized that the Sindh Prisons Department is committed to modernizing jails and upholding the fundamental rights of inmates. He noted that comprehensive efforts are being made to turn prisons into institutions that contribute to social reintegration rather than punishment alone.

Commissioner Karachi and the DG instructed jail superintendents to take proactive steps for the betterment of prisoners, particularly in the areas of rehabilitation, education, and mental well-being. They stressed the importance of treating inmates with dignity and equipping them with skills that can help them lead productive lives after their release.

Both officials reaffirmed their resolve to bring long-term improvements to the prison system and ensure that security measures are foolproof, safeguarding both the inmates and the staff.
