Pakistan Misses IMF Health and Education Spending Target

Pakistan failed to meet the IMF target of spending Rs2.86 trillion on health and education last year, spending only Rs2.84 trillion — Rs27 billion less.

Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab missed their targets, while the federal government and Balochistan spent more than planned.

Sindh spent Rs670 billion instead of Rs853 billion, K-P spent Rs545 billion instead of Rs600 billion, and Punjab spent Rs1.15 trillion instead of its target.

The shortfall was blamed on weak administration and low capacity.

A World Bank report says 26.1 million children are still out of school, most of them in rural areas.
