Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a high-level committee to make the Health Facility Card permanent in the federation and has sought a report within one week.
According to sources, the committee includes Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mustafa Kamal, the Secretary of Finance, the Secretary of Planning, the Head of the Health Card Program Muhammad Arshad, and the CEO of State Life Insurance.
Sources said the Prime Minister has asked the committee to submit a report on the health card within a week. The committee will decide whether the expenses for the health card will be covered through the current budget or by allocating funds from the development budget.
With universal coverage of the health card in the federation, millions of families will benefit. Residents of Islamabad, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Tharparkar district are also part of the federal health card program.
It is worth mentioning that residents of the federal capital have been deprived of the health card facility for several months.
