Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s family has issued a strong rebuttal following recent claims made by his brother, Faisal Khan, alleging that he was kept under house arrest for a year.
In a recent interview, Faisal recounted that, in the past, Aamir and other family members confined him to their home, declaring him a schizophrenia patient and suggesting he posed a threat to society. According to Faisal, during that period he was not allowed to step outside, his phone was confiscated, guards were stationed outside his room, and he was given medication without his consent. He also claimed he could not reach out to his father for help.
Responding to the allegations, the Khan family dismissed Faisal’s account as inaccurate. Indian media quoted their statement, calling the accusations against Aamir, their mother, and sister “unfortunate” and noting that this was not the first time Faisal had misrepresented past events.
The family clarified that all decisions regarding Faisal’s treatment were made collectively, in consultation with mental health professionals, with his emotional and psychological wellbeing in mind. They added that they had refrained from discussing these sensitive matters publicly to protect his privacy.
The statement urged the media and the public to avoid sensationalising the issue and to steer clear of unnecessary speculation about what they described as a private family matter.
