Violence and obstruction against medical staff by organized armed groups in Pakistan rose more than three percenters in 2024 compared to the previous year, with most incidents targeting vaccination campaigns.

‎According to the Safeguarding Health in Conflict Coalition (SHCC) report, a total of 39 incidents of violence or obstruction against healthcare services were recorded in 2024. In comparison, 12 such cases were reported in 2023 and 16 in 2022.

‎The SHCC an alliance of over 40 organizations working to protect healthcare workers and services in conflict-affected areas linked this surge to broader instability and rising violence in the country.

‎In terms of fatalities, the report noted that at least 15 healthcare workers lost their lives last year, a sharp rise from 3 deaths in 2023 and 5 in 2022.
