‎Outbreak of Epidemic Diseases in Flood-Affected Districts, 2,506 Cases Reported

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Department has released a report on diseases and treatment in areas affected by floods.

‎According to the report, epidemic diseases have broken out in flood-affected districts of KP, with 2,506 cases of cholera reported across 11 districts, including Buner. Among these patients, 116 were suffering from dysentery.

‎The document stated that 1,112 patients received treatment. Lower Dir reported the highest number of cholera cases with 823, followed by Swat with 591, Buner 319, and Bajaur 262 cases.

‎In Upper Dir, 226 cases were reported, Battagram 154, and Shangla 168. Abbottabad reported 3 cases, Mansehra 39, Swabi 18, and Torghar 13. Shangla reported 80 cases of malaria, Lower Dir 16, Swat 14, Torghar 11, and Upper Dir 2 cases.

‎The document further stated that Swabi reported 8 cases of dengue, Lower Dir 6, and Bajaur 1. Skin disease cases were reported in Torghar 172, Lower Dir 125, Buner 117, Shangla 128, and Battagram 83. Bajaur reported 4 cases of skin disease, while Lower Dir reported 1.

‎Flu, cold, and respiratory illnesses have also started spreading in flood-affected areas, with a total of 2,245 patients reported across 9 districts.

‎According to the document, treatment was provided to 1,413 patients. Lower Dir reported 736 cases, Swat 703, Shangla 359, Battagram 217, and Swabi 103.

‎The Secretary of Health stated that vaccines for snake and dog bites have been sent to affected areas, while psychological illnesses have also increased in flood hit districts.
