The Sindh Education Department has finalized the schedule for summer vacations, ordering all public and private schools across the province to shut their doors from June 1 through July 31. The decision affects millions of students as temperatures in the region climb toward their seasonal peak. With the heatwave risk rising, the department opted for a standardized two-month hiatus rather than staggered breaks.

“The decision was made to protect students from the extreme heat,” a spokesperson for the education department said. He confirmed that the notification applies to every educational institution operating within the province, leaving no room for administrative ambiguity.

For parents, the announcement brings a familiar scramble. While the break offers relief from the daily commute in soaring temperatures, it forces many to find alternative arrangements for children during work hours. Private schools, meanwhile, are already adjusting their internal calendars to ensure the syllabus is covered before the June deadline.

The timing aligns with the typical onset of the monsoon season and the peak of the provincial heat cycle. Last year, several districts saw temperatures exceed 40°C in early June, prompting last-minute calls for early closures.

By setting this date now, officials hope to avoid the chaos of mid-term adjustments. Teachers are expected to complete their final assessments and grading before the June 1 cutoff. The education department has instructed school administrations to finalize all pending academic reports before the gates close. Classes across Sindh will resume on August 1.

Until then, the provincial government expects all institutions to remain strictly compliant with the closure order.
