Three FC Personnel Martyred, 17 Injured in Hangu Terrorist Assault

HANGU, August 25, 2025 — In a tragic incident on Monday, three personnel of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) embraced martyrdom while 17 others sustained injuries following a terrorist attack on an FC fort located in the Torawari region of Hangu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Operations Asad Zubair, the assailants launched a coordinated assault on the fort, prompting swift retaliation by FC and police forces. The exchange of fire forced the militants to retreat.

The wounded personnel were immediately shifted to Doaba Hospital for medical treatment. District Police Officer (DPO) confirmed that one of the facilitators involved in the attack was neutralized during a subsequent encounter after he opened fire on law enforcement officials.

A comprehensive search operation is currently underway in the area to apprehend any remaining suspects.

This incident comes amid a sharp rise in militant activity across Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan—regions that share porous borders with Afghanistan.

A recent report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) revealed that the country witnessed 78 terrorist incidents in June alone, resulting in 100 fatalities. Among the deceased were 53 security personnel, 39 civilians, six militants, and two peace committee members. Additionally, 189 individuals were injured, including 126 security officials.

Security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations, including targeted actions in Bajaur and Zhob, where 47 militants allegedly backed by India were eliminated earlier this month while attempting to infiltrate from Afghanistan.
