There is a risk of malaria and stomach diseases spreading in flood affected areas, while the National Institute of Health has also issued an alert regarding eye infections and measles among children.
Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, in a statement, said that flood affected areas are being monitored 24/7, and the Ministry of Health is in contact with all provincial governments, the World Health Organization, and UNICEF.
He further said that medicines and doctors have been sent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit Baltistan, while no demand has yet come from Punjab. The flood will hit Sindh tomorrow, for which both the provincial and federal governments are on alert.
