‎Severe Heatwave in Sindh: Hundreds Affected by Heatstroke, Dozens of Livestock Dead

An intense heatwave has gripped Sindh, causing a significant rise in temperatures across the province. As a result, hundreds of people have been affected by heatstroke, and dozens of livestock have perished.

‎According to data released by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh, between April 14 and May 28, a total of 675 people suffered from heatstroke. Among them were 393 men, 276 women, and 6 children. During the same period, 60 livestock animals were reported dead due to the heat.

‎‎The most affected district was Shaheed Benazirabad, where 537 cases of heatstroke were reported. Other affected districts include Khairpur with 114 cases, Tando Allahyar with 11, Matiari with 8, Hyderabad with 3, and Karachi with 1 reported case.

‎PDMA officials stated that special heatstroke wards and camps have been established across Sindh to help manage the ongoing heatwave.

‎‎Meanwhile, Karachi continues to experience extreme heat, with the temperature feeling as high as 43°C. The city is receiving southwest sea breezes at a speed of 3 km/h, while the daytime temperature is expected to reach up to 41°C.
