‎‎In Astore district of Gilgit Baltistan, the number of people affected by drinking contaminated water has reached close to one thousand.

‎According to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Astore, patients are under treatment at District Headquarters Hospital Eidgah, Gorikot, and several other hospitals. Over the past six days, nearly one thousand people have been brought to different hospitals.

‎Deputy Commissioner Owais Abbasi said that a large number of the affected individuals include children, women, and the elderly. Due to shortage of space in several hospitals across the district, temporary camps have been set up.

‎According to the Deputy Commissioner, leakage in the Rama water supply line caused contamination at various points, polluting the water. The Rama Water Supply Scheme provides water to the district headquarters and six urban areas.
