“Over 4 Million Affected as Punjab, Sindh Brace for Further Flood Damage – High Water Levels Persist at Guddu, sukkur”

More than 4.2 million people across 4,447 villages in Punjab are now affected by the 2025 floods, while over 180,000 people in Sindh have been displaced or impacted. The rivers at Guddu and Sukkur barrages remain in a “high flood” state for the next 36 hours.

Kotri Barrage is currently seeing medium flood levels as water moves downstream.

In Punjab, water levels are falling at Panjnad on the Chenab River and Ganda Singh Wala on the Sutlej.

CM Sindh says water at Guddu has passed its peak, and expects levels at Kotri to reach peak in 7–10 days.In Sindh, 528 relief camps and 184 medical camps have been set up. Nearly 471,392 livestock animals have also been moved from riverine areas.

Storm warnings have been issued for Punjab, KP and certain upper river catchments through 19 September, with anticipated rain and thunderstorms.

Evacuation operations, reinforcement of embankments, and rescue efforts are under way in the most-affected districts like Jalalpur Pirwala and Muzaffargarh.

The flood situation is evolving, with provincial and federal authorities planning a preliminary damage assessment to be completed within 10 days.

The lead gives the biggest impacts (number of people, regions most affected, urgent flood threats).

Then comes what is happening immediately next, additional responses, and broader context or projections.
