Diljit Dosanjh Slams Indian Government’s “Double Standards” Over Asia Cup and Film Ban

Punjabi actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has strongly criticized the Indian government and media, questioning the ban on his film Sardaar Ji 3 while international cricket tournaments like the Asia Cup 2025 continue without restrictions.

Speaking during his concert in Malaysia, Dosanjh said:

“My film Sardaar Ji 3 was shot in February, while the Pahalgam incident occurred in April. The film had nothing to do with the attack, yet it was banned. Meanwhile, cricket matches are still being played. Why this double standard?”

The actor, who spotted an Indian flag in the audience, emphasized his patriotism:

“This is my country’s flag, and I will always respect it.”

Dosanjh, however, accused sections of the Indian media of portraying him as “anti-national,” stressing that Punjabis and Sikhs “can never go against their country.”

Following the Pahalgam incident, the Film Federation of India demanded both a ban on Sardaar Ji 3 and a boycott of Dosanjh. Although the film was not released in India, it became a commercial success internationally.

Dosanjh’s remarks come amid ongoing India-Pakistan tensions, raising questions about the government’s inconsistent approach to films and sports. His statement is being seen as a bold critique of policy double standards and media narratives.
