Oxford has announced new O-Level syllabi tailored for Pakistani students, making Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies, and Urdu compulsory subjects. The initiative aims to deliver updated and locally relevant education while equipping learners with skills to compete internationally.

The new curricula emphasize critical thinking, analytical abilities, and exam preparation. They cover Pakistan’s history, geography, Islamic traditions, and the richness of Urdu language and literature. According to Oxford University Press Pakistan, the content has been carefully structured in clear language and linked to global developments.

Oxford University Press Managing Director, Arshad Saeed Husain, said the partnership with AQA brings international expertise to local students, ensuring fairness and quality in education. Director Salma Adil added that the goal is not only to prepare students for examinations but also to provide knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in a global environment.

To support the syllabi, new textbooks were also introduced: Islamiyat by Nighat Gaya Bajwa, Urdu by Dr. Faizuddin Ahmed, and Pakistan Studies by Nigel Smith. These resources align with the revised syllabi and aim to ensure academic integrity along with practical relevance.
