UAE residents should brace for a wet and chilly weekend as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) forecasts widespread rainfall and a noticeable drop in temperatures. Starting Friday, October 10, until Tuesday, October 14, the country will experience unstable weather conditions due to an extension of a surface low-pressure system from the south combined with an upper-level low carrying cold and humid air.
According to the NCM, these systems will bring varying intensities of rain across much of the country. Light to moderate showers are expected initially, turning heavy at times, particularly in the northern and eastern regions. Some areas may even experience hailstorms as clouds thicken and moisture levels rise.
Alongside the rain, temperatures are projected to fall, offering a cooler atmosphere after weeks of warm weather. Winds may strengthen during this period, leading to blowing dust and sand, which could reduce visibility in exposed areas. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, especially while driving.
The changing weather will also impact marine conditions. Both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea are expected to see moderate to rough waves during the peak of the system, making it advisable for seafarers and beachgoers to stay alert to official weather updates.
