Her fellowship will officially take effect on January 1, 2026, marking a proud moment for Pakistan’s scientific community.

The TWAS fellowship is awarded to scientists who have made outstanding contributions to scientific research and innovation in the developing world. Dr. Yousaf’s selection recognizes her remarkable achievements in chemistry, her dedication to scientific excellence, and her efforts in promoting innovation and research across developing countries.

Dr. Samar Yousaf currently serves as a Professor at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at the University of Karachi, and is also a COMSTECH Distinguished Scholar. She has an impressive academic record, with over 260 research publications, more than 3,900 citations, and an h-index of 32, reflecting her influence in the field of chemical and biological sciences.

Prof. Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry, Coordinator General of OIC-COMSTECH and TWAS Vice President for South and Central Asia, congratulated Dr. Yousaf on her achievement, describing it as “a moment of pride for Pakistan’s scientific community and the wider OIC region.”

TWAS, founded in 1983, is headquartered in Trieste, Italy, and is dedicated to advancing science, engineering, and technology in developing countries through research support, fellowships, and international collaboration. Dr. Yousaf’s induction into TWAS further highlights Pakistan’s growing contributions to global scientific progress.
