KARACHI – Sindh Minister for Prisons, Ali Hassan Zardari, visited Karachi Central Jail and inaugurated several key initiatives aimed at improving prison facilities and ensuring the welfare of inmates. During his visit, the minister inaugurated a special drive to promote Islamic education, rehabilitation programs, and vocational training inside prisons.

Inspector General of Prisons Sindh, Qazi Nazir Ahmed, briefed the minister on ongoing reforms, including enhanced security measures, new health and education programs for inmates, and digital monitoring of jail operations.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister Ali Hassan Zardari emphasized the importance of rehabilitating prisoners through education and skill development, urging officials to treat inmates with humanity and dignity.

The minister announced several key reforms including the introduction of a Rehabilitation & Education Cell, the initiation of vocational and religious training programs, and improved facilities for prisoners’ welfare and staff development.

He appreciated the efforts of the prison administration and reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to ensuring that prisons serve as rehabilitation centers rather than mere detention facilities.
