Security forces killed 18 terrorists linked to the Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan during two intelligence based operations (IBOs) in Balochistan’s Quetta and Kech districts on October 28 and 29, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

According to the ISPR, troops conducted the first operation in the Chiltan Mountains area of Quetta, where they targeted a group of terrorists based on credible intelligence. “During the intense exchange of fire, 14 Indian-sponsored terrorists were neutralised and sent to hell,” the statement said.

In another successful operation in Buleda, Kech District, security forces raided a hideout and eliminated four more terrorists. Large quantities of weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the sites. The terrorists were reportedly involved in multiple attacks against civilians and security personnel.

The military’s media wing added that sanitisation operations are underway to ensure the complete elimination of remaining terrorists in the area.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded the security forces for their bravery and success under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” campaign. President Zardari reaffirmed that Pakistan’s forces are determined to root out terrorism, while Prime Minister Shehbaz said the nation stands united with its defenders in this fight.

Meanwhile, fresh terrorist attacks were reported elsewhere in the province. On Wednesday night, terrorists fired four rockets at the Jaffer Express passenger train, but security forces swiftly retaliated, forcing the attackers to flee.

In a separate incident, a hand grenade attack on a police van in Dera Murad Jamali injured 13 people, including two policemen, women, and children. According to SSP Ghulam Sarwar Bhayo, unidentified assailants threw the grenade near Shah Petrol Pump during a routine patrol.

Authorities have launched investigations into both attacks as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in Balochistan.
