Scientists in Spain have successfully carried out the first-ever transplantation of a pig kidney made from human cells.

In a groundbreaking medical development, experts at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) in Barcelona have successfully attached kidney organoids, created from human cells, to the kidneys of a living pig. This experiment is still in the pre-clinical phase.

However, experts say this could open up new possibilities for kidney transplants in the future. According to project leader Dr. Nuria Montserrat, this technology could help repair organs and extend their lifespan.

Scientists also mention that they can now produce thousands of organoids in a short time, which could potentially be used for human transplants in the future. Experts believe that this breakthrough may mark a new chapter in the field of organ transplantation.
