A 16 hour long heart surgery on a young patient was successfully completed at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Hospital in Karachi.
According to the statement, for the first time in Pakistan, the surgery was performed using the “Total Arch Replacement with Frozen Elephant Trunk Technique.”
Turkish surgeon Orse Kizil Tepe was specially invited for the procedure, and he completed the surgery in collaboration with NICVD specialists. The young patient from Khairpur is recovering rapidly.
According to the statement, the surgery, which cost six million rupees, was carried out completely free of charge with the support of the Sindh government.
