There is a risk of respiratory illnesses spreading due to smog. The National Institute of Health has issued an advisory for smog prevention and necessary measures. While advising precautionary steps, it has warned that Lahore has the highest level of air pollution, and winter smog may severely affect human health until February.

‎According to the advisory issued by the National Institute of Health, toxic particles in the air combined with cold weather may lead to the spread of pneumonia. People may face respiratory and heart related illnesses as well as several other health crises. Children, the elderly, and people already suffering from diseases are at higher risk. According to the National Institute of Health, Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad are at greater risk from smog.

‎Smog is feared to severely affect health, the economy, and the quality of life. The advisory has also directed the health sector, authorities, and experts to take necessary measures regarding smog.
