Many people believe that refilling a water bottle carries no risk, which is incorrect.

‎A new study has revealed that the bottles we use every day can also become a source of harmful germ growth.

‎According to the research, bacteria and fungi can easily transfer into bottles through our lips, tongue, hands, or the bottle cap.

‎Experts say that if not cleaned regularly, bottles made of glass, metal, or plastic can all become contaminated.

‎Experts have warned that to avoid potential health risks, it is very important to wash bottles thoroughly on a regular basis.

‎They advise washing the bottle inside and outside every day with warm soapy water and drying it before refilling, as moisture helps germs grow.

‎In addition, experts suggest deep cleaning water bottles weekly.

‎If a dishwasher is suitable for cleaning the bottle, experts recommend using it otherwise, they suggest washing the bottle with a solution of vinegar or baking soda.

‎According to experts, if the bottle is used for protein shakes, sports drinks, or sweet beverages, then daily cleaning becomes even more essential because the sugar and starch in these drinks help bacteria grow rapidly.

‎Experts advise against refilling disposable plastic bottles because these bottles can release chemicals, develop scratches, and allow germs to grow.

‎Experts say that if any bottle changes color or has an unusual smell, it should be emptied immediately.
