The World Health Organization has released its latest report on the global spread of malaria, according to which 3.155 million people in Pakistan were confirmed to have malaria in 2024.
According to the report, after African countries, Pakistan is the nation where the highest number of malaria cases were reported, while in terms of total patients, Pakistan ranked 21st globally.
Statistics show that among malaria patients in Pakistan, 55 percent are men and 42 percent are women. The report also states that compared to 2023, Pakistan recorded a significant decrease of 1.1 million malaria cases in 2024.
According to the World Health Organization, 282 million people worldwide were affected by malaria in 2024, and the disease caused 610,000 deaths.
