Skin diseases have increased in Karachi after the rains, confirmed Additional Director Dr. Abdullah Yahya.
The Additional Director stated that the number of patients has significantly increased after the monsoon, with 5,000 skin disease patients visiting Chamra Hospital daily.
He further said that fungal and bacterial infections are spreading due to contaminated water and open manholes, while parasitic infections are also increasing due to stagnant water.
A dermatologist said that the OPD at Civil Hospital receives 500 to 600 patients daily, while more than 600 patients are reporting at Jinnah Hospital.
Dr. Rabia stated that to prevent skin diseases, it is extremely important to avoid contaminated water and unhygienic places.
