Quetta Customs Enforcement has seized a large consignment of smuggled goods worth approximately Rs226.3 million during a successful intelligence based operation, officials said on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out by the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Quetta, with the support of Frontier Corps (FC) North Balochistan’s 78 Wing, as part of an ongoing crackdown against smuggling and illegal trade in the region.

According to customs authorities, the seized items include 53,180 kilograms of betel nuts, 180 bags of Chinese salt, 251 bags of plastic granules, 30 generator dynamos, 1,600 kilograms of men’s and women’s clothing, and two passenger buses used for transporting the illegal goods.

Officials said the action was launched on the basis of confirmed intelligence, highlighting effective coordination between law enforcement agencies. The timely assistance of FC North’s 78 Wing played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the operation.

Customs officials emphasized that the seizure reflects the government’s resolve to curb smuggling, which causes serious losses to the national economy. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, remains committed to taking strict measures against illegal trade to protect Pakistan’s economic interests.

Authorities reaffirmed that such operations will continue to ensure fair trade practices and strengthen border enforcement across Balochistan.
