Pakpattan: An alleged police encounter took place within the jurisdiction of Bada Ghar Police Station, during which one suspect was killed by firing from his own accomplice, while another managed to escape.
According to police officials, two unidentified motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire on police personnel when signaled to stop. In response, police returned fire in self-defense. During the exchange, one suspect was fatally wounded by gunfire from his own associate and died at the scene, whereas the second suspect fled.
Police said the process to establish the identity of the deceased suspect is underway. A motorcycle and weapon were recovered from the scene. Police teams have launched a search operation in the area to apprehend the absconding suspect.
The body of the deceased was shifted to District Nankana Hospital for post-mortem examination. Further legal proceedings are in progress. Upon receiving information about the incident, DSP Circle Bada Ghar Ayub Sahi reached the spot along with police contingents.
