PTI Leaders and Founder’s Sisters Stage Sit-in at Gorakhpur Factory Checkpoint in Rawalpindi

The three sisters of PTI founder—Alima Khan, Noreen Khan, and Dr. Azmi—arrived at the Gorakhpur factory checkpoint in Rawalpindi, staging a sit-in. The protest caused complete traffic closure on Adyala Road, with PTI workers chanting slogans and heavy police presence at the site.

Speaking to the media at the checkpoint, PTI Secretary General Suleman Akram Raja emphasized that any negotiation without a meeting with the PTI founder in jail would be meaningless. He said the authorities do not have the power to facilitate such a meeting, and therefore, negotiations offered by the government are ineffective.

Raja criticized the authorities for not respecting the constitution or the judiciary and highlighted that genuine dialogue is the only democratic path. He stressed that the protest was an expression of solidarity, not a demand for superficial negotiations.

He referred to past talks in December 2024 and January 2025, saying those negotiations yielded no progress beyond trivial gestures. “If the government is sincere, they should allow a meeting with the founder. Without that, any negotiations only validate oppression,” he said.

Raja condemned the government’s approach, saying it ignores principles and human rights by keeping the founder in confinement. He added that the PTI agenda aligns with Achakzai’s stance, and terms like “begging for negotiations” are incorrect. He emphasized that the party stands firm on principles and will not accept any talks that legitimize coercion.

The protest continues at the checkpoint, with PTI leaders demanding unrestricted access to the PTI founder before any meaningful negotiations can take place.
