The Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission has officially released the final list of candidates for the upcoming legislative assembly elections. This move clears the path for the campaign to enter its final, high-stakes phase, as political parties scramble to secure their footing in key constituencies.

With the ballot finalized, the commission has officially barred any further withdrawals. Candidates are now locked into their respective races, and the focus shifts entirely to the ground game in the valley and the refugee constituencies in Pakistan.

For the ruling party, the final list confirms several high-profile contests that could determine the political trajectory of the region for the next five years. Opposition leaders have already signaled their intent to challenge the allocation of specific symbols, though the commission maintains that the process adhered strictly to the electoral code of conduct.

The electoral landscape remains crowded. Dozens of independents are vying for seats alongside heavyweights from the major political factions, turning several districts into battlegrounds. Election officials have confirmed that security protocols for the polling stations are being updated to reflect the increased number of candidates in the field.

Polling day is expected to be a test of logistical efficiency for the commission. Beyond the raw numbers, the participation rate in these elections carries significant weight, as both regional and federal stakeholders look to the results as a referendum on their current policies.

With the lists now public, the commission is shifting its resources toward printing ballot papers and finalizing the deployment of polling staff. For the candidates, the window for formal campaigning is narrowing—and the pressure to convert name recognition into actual votes is peaking.
