For the first time in Sindh, a province-wide uniform examination system has been introduced across all education boards to standardize assessment and ensure equal evaluation standards for students.

The Sindh School Education Department has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the implementation of the Uniform Examination Syllabus (UES) after its formal approval by Provincial Minister for Education Syed Sardar Ali Shah. Under the new framework, examinations in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will be conducted according to a single standardized system across the province.

Officials said the UES has initially been implemented for Classes IX and X following review and recommendations by the Directorate of Curriculum, Assessment and Research (DCAR), Sindh. Question papers will now be prepared according to an approved Table of Specifications, ensuring uniformity in paper design and content coverage.

Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah stated that examinations will no longer depend solely on textbooks but will be based on the approved UES. He said the reform aims to eliminate disparities among examination boards and remove the long-standing perception that some boards are easier or more difficult than others.

The minister added that the new examination system emphasizes conceptual understanding, application, and critical thinking rather than rote memorization, enabling a more accurate assessment of students’ actual learning abilities.

He further said that the modern assessment system will improve examination standards while promoting transparency and uniformity across Sindh. Alongside examination reforms, special focus is also being given to student learning outcomes and strengthening teacher professional training to ensure effective implementation.

According to the School Education Department, the Uniform Examination Syllabus is currently limited to Classes IX and X, while implementation for Classes XI and XII will be introduced in the next phase after further review and recommendations by DCAR.
